Franklin Island 4 Day Workshops - Sept 5th thru 29th, 2019

"Ontario's Northland at it's best ..." Hosted by photographer Harry Cartner

One of the most unique photo shoots you will experience ....
"Join us on one of our 4 day workshops featuring Franklin Island near Parry Sound"

Franklin Island is exquisite, pristine and virtually untouched by man. The island is just the way it would have been found millions of years ago when the Canadian Shield was formed.

Your Photo Tour Trekkers host and award winning photographer, Harry Cartner will share his favorite locations on the island. Harry considers this island to be “Sacred Ground” and it is every landscape photographers dream.

Harry has hosted workshops in this region for over 12 years and working with our boat captain knows the best spots on the island for photography. Experience this unique landscape and photograph what Mother Nature created millions of years ago on one of our 4 day workshops this fall.

Location address, directions and maps on the bottom of this web page. We look forward to you joining us this fall for the Franklin Island workshops.

DAY 1:

Participants arrive in the afternoon please arrange to arrive between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm.
Settle in Snug Haven Resort. Around 7:30 p.m. we will host an orientation.

DAY 2: Early morning we will meet at the resort dock, exact time will be announced the previous evening. We sail to Franklin Island which is approximately 10 to 15 minutes from shore. We will be staying on the island until 10:00 -11:00 a.m. departing earlier if the light fails us. At 3:30 p.m. we will do our second sailing to the island finishing by 6:30- 7:00 pm, or possibly later depending on the sunset. When we return to the resort, a light supper will be served and then we will meet in the club house to review images shot that day or if the skies are clear we will head out to Killbear Provincial Park for our night photography shoot. The activities of evening 2 & 3 are interchangeable depending on the skies.

DAY 3: Early morning we will meet at the resort dock, exact time will be announced the previous evening. Today we will sail to another location on Franklin Island, finishing between 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. As with the previous day this is contingent on the light. At 3:30 p.m. we will sail to a couple of other locations that are quite unique in their own way and finish off around 6:30-7:00 pm, depending on the sunset. When we return to the resort we will serve a light supper and either review images from our photo shoots or hold our night shoot at Killbear Provincial Park. The activities of evening 2 & 3 are interchangeable depending on the skies.

DAY 4: Gather in the early morning for final photography a farewells. We will host an optional visit to Killbear Provincial Park if weather was not co-operative day 2 or 3. Depart the resort at 11:00 a.m.

During the course of workshops we will do some long exposure night photography if the skies are clear on night 2 or 3. In particular we will be photography lake landscapes with the Milky Way.
